Introduction

Kuantan Regional Meteorological Office was established in 1951 to provide the necessary meteorological data for weather forecasting in the northern area of Peninsular Malaysia.

Functions

To maintain a continuous weather watch over Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.
To provide meteorological services for the Royal Malaysian Air Force and Civil Aviation. This is to ensure safety of aircraft, pilots and passengers.
To issue advisory and warning of severe weather conditions. This is to ensure the safety of public and to reduce damage to properties.

Services

Weather forecast for the states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan is issued through Radio 3 every 3 hours to the public.
Weather forecast is issued daily to agencies involved in shipping and marine activities.
Weather forecast is issued daily to the State Flood Operations Room during the Northeast Monsoon period.
Area Forecast for at least three main areas is issued daily to the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
Warning of severe weather over Kuantan aerodrome is issued to the public.
Warning of severe weather and strong wind is issued to the public.
