Introduction
The setting up of the Kuching Regional Weather Forecast Office in the Malaysia Meteorological
Department Sarawak serves as a regional center to manage and provide weather forecast for Aviation, Massmedia, Private sector and the General public for the state of Sarawak.
Functions
The main function of the service is to achieve quality and continuous output for the support of weather forecast and national climatology and maintain Nation commitment in the World Weather Watch programme for world peace and harmony, Carry out under 3 categories:-

Administration
(ii)
Maintenance
(iii) Assured Quality
Services
The provision of weather information including weather forecast continues to be the main service provided by the Kuching Regional Weather Forecast Office.
Services provided by Kuching regional Weather Forecast office are as follows:-

Issuance of daily weather forecast to the Aviation, Massmedia and the General public. |

Issuance of customized weather forecast for special project and specific requests. |

Carry out general weather watch and monitoring and update all weather forecasts when necessary. |

Issuance of severe weather warnings when necessary. |
|
Answering enquries regarding weather forecast and weather phenomena. |
|
To provide the Air Traffic Control Center ( ATC ) with actual weather information, landing forecasts and hazardous weather warnings including Wind-shear and Microburst alerts. |

To provide ground handling agents and airlines with meteorological flight documentation. |
|
To provide weather alerts to the State Government, Natural Disaster Relief Committee, Government agencies like DID, Marine Department etc. |

To conduct cloud seeding operations to increase water resources and clearing of haze. |
