LL4. - Stratocumulus

LL4. Stratocumulus (Sc) (gray/whitish) clouds form when the top part of cumulus clouds developed in the afternoon spread under inversion. These clouds appear in the later part of the day when the atmosphere begins to stabilize. The light yellowish color is due to the sunset. Stratocumulus also can form without spreading cumulus.

LL5. - Fracto cumulus and fair weather cumulus

LL5. Fracto cumulus, the ragged looking white clouds with diffuse outline, at the upper part of the photo, and the fair weather cumulus, also whitish except at the bottom (slightly darker), with limited extension, at the lower part of the photo, are indications of dry atmosphere.
