Kelantan Meteorological Office located nearby Sultan Ismail Petra Airport's area, Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan about 10 km from Kota Bharu town. Beginning as Balai Pencerapan Cuaca in time of the British that is on year 1930 in Padang Keloncor, Kota Bharu. During 1957, it was transferred to Pengkalan Chepa Airport and later known as Kota Bharu Meteorological Station. Beginning from year 2014, it upgraded to Kelantan Meteorological Office with Meteorological Radar Station and Kuala Krai Meteorological Office are under her responsiblity and function in handling the administration, development and MetMalaysia operation in Kelantan state.
To manage the administration, development and operations of the Department at the state level.
To ensure all the activities meet the state and national requirements.
To provide expert advisory services in the fields of meteorological, geophysics and tsunami to the state government.
To conduct public awareness and educational programs on disaster risks related to weather phenomena, earthquakes and tsunamis.
To disseminate weather advisories or severe weather warnings to disaster management agencies and the general public.
To provide daily general weather outlooks to the public.
To provide weather information and meteorological data to the public and clients from various sectors such as agriculture, construction, tourism, industry, transportation and fisheries.

All meteorological services provided for civil aviation comply with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
Disseminate severe weather warnings issued by the National Weather and Geophysics Operations Centre to the public and government agencies immediately, to reduce the risk of loss of life and property.
Respond immediately and courteously to all weather-related inquiries via telephone or in-person visits at any time (24 hours a day, including Sundays and public holidays). To respond to every inquiry and complaint within two (2) weeks by letter or within twenty-four (24) hours by telephone.
